The Results. Raising the quality of the design aspect of the festival consolidated the hard work that’s gone into the Night Noodle Markets over the years and helped to raise the profile of the event going forward.
A highly detailed project to create a new look and feel around a beer garden situated in Kings Cross.
All the details were meticulously created by hand, creating an environment that reflected the natural world and gave patrons great excuses to start conversations and dwell within the space.

The Challenge. To replace the traditional outdoor event single brewery exclusive sponsorship arrangement with a brewery activation representing a range of local craft breweries aligned to the regional produce curation, without negatively impacting the event commercial outcomes
The Solution. Canvas Creative designed, built, and operated an event bar named Craftwerk able to represent numerous local craft breweries through an engaging event bar experience
The Results. An interesting and engaging customer experience offering a range of quality locally brewed beers, with matchings to local food offerings, in a unique and memorable setting. Strong engagement from other regional food destinations around Australia to bring in the Craftwerk bar activation
Nine day turnaround making a crazy little pop-up that lasted for two years in Queenstown, NZ.
Curated, submitted and commissioned from around the world, the ISFF showcased and celebrated the wonder of GIFs as (incredibly) short format films.
The inaugural Incredibly Short Film Festival was screened in two parts: firstly, as part of Vivid Sydney, with live musical accompaniment at the MCA; and secondly, as a series of 22 screens around the Kings Cross area of Sydney.
The incredibly short films added fun and energy to the area. The festival acted as both a magnet to the area and once people were there, entertained them, amazed them and created a sense of community and connectedness through shared experience. Additionally, by including beautifully animated messages, we hoped to inspire people to act in a positive way while they’re in the area and afterwards.
For its second year the show was held at the Sydney Olympic pool in North Sydney as a part of Vivid. The festival has gone on to show in Portland, LA, Queenstown and Croatia.

The Situation. Sydney’s longest running (40+ years) Latin American cultural festival at Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach had recently transferred management from local council to a local community radio station who reached out for help
The Challenge. Canvas Creative were asked to help raise the standard of the important cultural festival, by repositioning and amplifying a vivid cultural experience incorporating food, music, dance, and folklore to an evolving and discerning patron demographic
The Solution. Curating a pre-festival beach side parade, raising the quality of the food and beverage, adding key event staff, and refreshing the marketing strategy has enabled the much loved and respected festival to showcase a high standard of Latin American Culture to the broader non Latino community
The Results. A richer, more vibrant, and higher standard cultural offering presented to a growing demographic of both Latino and non Latino patrons, generating year on year growth in attendance of 32%+ and year on year growth in yield of 38% ensuring the sustainability of the event and a resulting attraction to product partners keen to engage via authentic native advertising
The Situation. In 2017 well known bar in Kings Cross approached us to enhance their creative event space.
The Challenge. To design a light installation that complemented the age of the building, whilst being able to match the energy and vibe of the night-time transition.
The Solution. The use of vintage lampshades over modern DMX controlled LED fittings created a beautiful ambience that reflected the age and character of the space but morphed into a mesmerising light show in the early hours.
The Results. A vibe, loads of smiles, and a photo worthy design that ended up in many band, DJ and performance shots.
The Situation. Sydney’s nightlife had been decimated by the lockout laws and venues struggled to find cut through in a decreasing market.
The Challenge. To create an uplifting and meaningful event that would bring people back to Kings Cross to experience undiscovered facets of the area’s history and charm.
The Solution. Canvas Creative teamed up with some of Sydney’s most incredible producers & directors to conceptualise and deliver ‘Hidden Sydney’, an immersive theatre experience that took theatre goers on an unfolding experience through excerpts of Kings Cross’ illustrious past in a three storey historic mansion.
The Results. “The Glittering Mile doesn’t disappoint. But the description doesn’t do justice to the breadth of vision nor the dexterity with which the whole thing is executed.”
“It’s best experienced rather than described, but the action begins before the back door even opens. And then it just unfolds seamlessly, as we step into room after room, each offering another segment of the broad cultural canvas that was the Cross over so many decades.”
